    The Conference was inaugurated by Dr. K. Shiv Prasad Rao, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Keynote Address was presented by Dr. Lalit Nath, Consultant, WHO, Member, Core Group on Health, National Human, Rights Commission and former Director and Dean, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).  
     
 
 
 
    For the past six years ILSI-India has been looking closely at micronutrient to which Indian people are most exposed. It organized a number of conferences in different regions with a view to sensitize governments about supplementation, motive industry to fortify foods of mass consumption and create public awareness about the health problems from micronutrients deficiencies. While the problems and solutions are now well recognized the efforts and consequently the results continue to be poor.  
     
   
    ILSI-India and ILSI Research Foundation sponsored a Conference on Healthy Childhood for Healthy Adulthood: Role of Nutrition on December 15, 2006. It was co-sponsored by National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad. Around 80 participants from academia, government departments, medical colleges and hospitals, industry and UNICEF, UN World Food Program, CARE, and FAO participated in the Conference. The Conference was addressed by 18 experts.  
     
   
    The National Seminar on Importance of Zinc in Human Health, organized by ILSI-India and Human Nutrition Institute, Washington in association with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), was held in New Delhi on 25-26 October 2004. The Seminar was addressed by 22 national and international experts.  
     
   
    Nutrition is the study of foods and nutrients and their effect on health, growth, and development of the individual. Sports Nutrition applies nutrition principles to sport with the intent of maximizing performance. Success in sports depends on three factors - genetic endowments, the state of training and nutrition.  
     
   
    The "National Seminar on Importance of Nutrition for Bone Health" was sponsored by International Life Sciences Institute - India (ILSI-India) and ILSI Research Foundation in association with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (Sub-Specialty Chapter on Nutrition) and the Indian Society for Bone and Mineral Research, at Hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi on April 20, 2006. More than 80 delegates participated in the Conference.  
     
   
    The Seminar held in Mumbai, covered five Sessions on different subjects on 2nd and 3rd November 2001 and was inaugurated by Mrs Rupa Shah Vice-Chancellor SNDT Women's University. It was attended by experts from academia, R&D organizations, Central Government, State Government and industry.
